Council on Adolescents of Catawba County
Our mission is to provide leadership in the promotion of well-being and the prevention of at-risk behaviors among adolescents through education, community awareness, and advocacy.
Since 1986, the Council on Adolescents has become an educational resource for the community through programming, data collection, and research for teens and their families.
The Council has received state and national recognition for its campaign to inform citizens about the "Age of Consent" law.
The Council also worked with state legislators on two peices of legislation.
The first was to raise penalties to adults that provide alcohol to minors, and the second, to limit the number of passengers in cars with drivers with probationary licenses.
Through collaboration with other area community agencies, the Council has led efforts to reduce teen pregnancy, and to make all schools in Catawba County 100% tobacco free.
